Beating the back to work blues

It is never easy returning to the daily routine after a fun filled holiday break, getting back into the swing of things, rush hour traffic and deadlines. Holidays always seem to go so Back to workquickly, so when you do return try focusing on the following to start fresh:

Engage in good pre-planning – Planning for a return to work is a big part of being successful. Update your task priorities – those who have already penciled in top goals before returning to work have a better chance of achieving these goals earlier and settling back into business quicker.

Get engaged in new projects – Tackling new projects right out of the gate is sometimes a good way to get quickly immersed back in the workplace.

Limit access on the first day back – Returning to work can be overwhelming, making your return to work incremental can help. Some like to keep the first day reserved for catching up, limiting their incoming phone calls and new projects until they have caught up on what they missed.

Adjust your sleep schedule –  Another major aspect of returning to work is related to the work life balance and how someone’s personal life affects their workday. Sleep is one of the major factors: making sure that your sleep schedule is linked up to your work schedule will help make the return to work transition easier.

Keep your out of office on – Don’t be too trigger-happy in turning an out-of-office message off, because once you do people will know you’re back and will begin chasing you.

Book more time off – It’s much easier to throw yourself into a period of hard work if you have something to look forward to.
